Calcite Introduction And Application

Calcite is a calcium carbonate mineral, and the most common natural calcium carbonate is it. Therefore, calcite is a widely distributed mineral. The crystal shapes of calcite are varied, and their aggregates can be clusters of crystals, granular, massive, fibrous, stalactite, earthy and so on. Hit calcite to get a lot of square pieces, hence the name calcite

Because of its birefringence, iceland stone is often used in polarizing prisms. If it is cut into a column in a certain way, it can be used as a microscope prism to detect the optical properties of minerals. Its quality requirements must be: colorless and transparent, without air bubbles inside. Or cracks, without twin crystals or distortion, more than 0.5 inches (12.5mm) cubic.

Generally, calcite is used as industrial raw material such as chemical industry and cement.

When calcite is added in glass production, the resulting glass will become translucent, which is especially suitable for making glass lampshades.
